Know What Your Government is Doing…the Bailout Bill

Posted in Economy, Politics tagged , at 3:43 pm by wordblue

Here is the complete text of the revised (amended) Bailout Bill (Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008)  as voted on by both the Senate and the House. (It’s in pdf form.  Download it, read it, learn it.)

This is no stabilization or stimulation package, no help for the poor, the working, the about-to-lose-their-homes-and-businesses Americans.  This is yet another ploy that will ultimately make several more already wealthy citizens more money and less responsibility.  Does anyone remember just a few days back when bush was pressing us all to approve the bailout bill “expediently”?  “It needs to happen now”, I think I heard him say.  And yet here we are.. nearly 1000 points down in the market over the last week including a 508 point drop just today.

I won’t lie, I haven’t read the entire revised bill, but you can bet I will!  I don’t think that the majority of the Senate NOR the House have read so much as a single page of the bill.  Ask your!  Ask your Senate and Congressional offices to explain it to you.  I bet they cannot.  So we will have to do it ourselves.

The Photo-Op Flop!

Posted in Economy, Politics tagged , , at 3:46 pm by wordblue

Wow. When you are pandering to become the next president of the U.S. of A. I guess “anything goes”.  Mr McCain has lost some more of that all important gray matter this week and appears to have taken on a “fuck it” mentality.

Hey guys, since the timing of this financial fiasco is going to plague my attempts to dupe the american people into voting for me, lets dupe the American people into voting for me!  You see, we’re going to  “stop” my campaign for a while.. no, no.. it’s just gonna be a few days at most.  Then Cindy and I are going to take a quick vacation.  It’s just a simple coincidence that we’ll be vacationing in DC.  And since I’ll be there anyway, I’m not coming back until our government agrees to my demands!  Then I’ll return to the campaign that I “postponed”, the people will worship me and I will be their omnipotent leader!!!  …oh shit.. gotta go debate!

A week-long photo-op at the time, of a national tragedy (following several others of sorts).  Political theater on an inappropriate stage. And it’s going to flop.

Politician…the new four-letter word.

Meanwhile, another bank fails and the change in my pocket will afford me less and less.  I say to all who will listen.  Take your money and get a safe… or some solid cardboard shoe box… and put your money there.  If it is going ot keep any value at all, it certainly will have more in your hand rather than in “the bank”.  If people in this country were smart, they’d start taking on a survivalist mentality.  At least to some degree.  If the collective whole of this country acted like we gave a damn, something close to a miracle could happen.  But instead, we are going to (you are going to.. I’m a “survivalists for dummies student” as we speak) drive the excessive amounts to get nowhere fast and then display intolerance at the price and the fat cats pockets unending swell.   Who is more to blame?  People like the incompetant Mr McCain, or us?

Keep Spending, Go Broke… Stop Spending, Help Ruin the Economy

Posted in Economy tagged , , at 11:31 am by wordblue

Oh, the grandeur of inflation!  Dictionary.com defines inflation as “a persistent, substantial rise in the general level of prices related to an increase in the volume of money and resulting in the loss of value of currency (opposed to deflation)”.  No kidding.

By Chris Isidore, CNNMoney.com senior writer

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com)

Prices paid at the retail level were up 5% on an annual basis in June, the biggest 12-month change since May 1991 – an annual figure that was skewed by the surge in gasoline prices related to the first Gulf War.

A separate Labor Department report showed the average hourly wage up only 3.4% over the same 12-month period, meaning the typical American is having trouble keeping up with the price increases.

The 12-month rise in core CPI is now up 2.4%, up from a 2.3% rise in that reading in May.

Fed chairman’s gloom Bernanke, in testimony to a Senate committee Tuesday warned that could pose a risk for the economy.

“Rapid increases in the prices of energy and other commodities…have sapped household purchasing power even as they have boosted inflation,” he said in testimony he is set to repeat to a House committee Wednesday.”

SO, Basically, as a nation we are better off how things were about a year ago.  We get a national increase in minimum wage, and instead of the government doing anything to make that increase advantageous to us Americans, they contribute to a worsening economy and to the sharp decline in consumer confidence.  Governments allow things to go on, like Cedar Rapids, Ia. dumping ALL of its solid waste directly in to the Cedar River for weeks following the major flood we had here, non-stop, because the water treatment plant has been completely down for weeks, until this week.  Instead of requiring the use of Port-a-potty’s where ever plausible/possible/applicable.  Long term result will be probably billions spent on environmental clean up, massive wildlife/fish losses not just regionally, but globally.

Gas is out of control, and our government is stalling on doing anything about it.  And why would they when this countries own “leader” would lose money if that were to happen.  And we all know that bush’s 2 terms were really a means for him to rake in even MORE money into his own oil businesses.  Did you all forget that the bush’s owe their wealth to oil and the ill-gotten ways in which they have reaped the “rewards”?

I’ll say it here and now.. bush’s ties to mid-east oil is the reason for 9/11.  Do the deep research, people.

So, now here we are.  Asshole is almost out of office and our economy is the WORST it has been since before his first term.  Thanks Asshole bush!  And this is what is in store for America in our near future…

“[Bernanke] also warned that spending by consumers, which provides nearly three-quarters of the nation’s economic activity, “seems likely to be restrained over coming quarters” and that price increases could also make businesses cautious about their own spending plans.

As everything involving money worsens in this country, we spend less.  As we spend less, things worsen for this country.  It’s a perpetual cycle that HAS to be broken.  We can start by electing (and refusing to accept a faulted, one-sided election process that rewards the counted loser.. bush) a person who has this nations economic future on his mind for the immediate future.. McCain?  He wants a continued multi-multi-billion dollar war.  He wants continued tax breaks for the likes of himself and his cronies.  He talks of building bases in the lands that we are illegally occupying. Go ahead, McCain, lead us into more war and a depression, just like your boyfriend, bush.
